Seed. In the pea family. It forms viny runners with purplish pink flowers. The seeds are oval, mottled reddish brown and have a dark "scar" about half the length of the seed. Found from Florida (east and west coasts) around the Gulf of Mexico to the tropics. (There are several other species of seeds also referred to as "bay beans")
