Characteristics
Body compressed dorsoventrally, head wider than body, eyes on top of head; tail narrower, compressed laterally; color gray to olive brown with various darker spots or diffused blotches; sucking disk on underside of body near head; dorsal and anal fin near tail, dark to brown in color; caudal fin dark; mouth with fleshy tabs; nostrils tubular.
Similar Species
May be confused with a juvenile toadfish but the toadfish has no sucking disk.
