Blenniidae - blennies
Blennies are small elongated scaleless fishes with long dorsal and anal fins. Their head is usually blunt with eyes high near dorsal side and mouth near ventral side. The head usually has fleshy flaps call "cirri" between the eyes. Blennies are bottom dwelling species usually found in oyster reefs, rocks, coral reefs and other hard substrates. They are found in both the Gulf and estuaries. |
