Emmelichthyidae - rovers
Emmelichthyidae is a family of elongated streamlined fishes called rovers, bonnetmouths or rubyfishes. Their jaws are toothless or have extremely reduced teeth. They are omnivores, eating both plants and animals. They occur in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, in tropical to temperate waters. There are 3 or so genera and 11-17 species, depending on who you talk to. |
